🚀 Introduction
When working on a game project, choosing the right assets can save a lot of time.
But one thing that sometimes gets overlooked is engine compatibility. Not all assets behave the same way across different engines, even if they use standard formats like FBX.
🎮 What Our Assets Are Built For
All Meshtint assets are:
- Created in 3ds Max using CAT rig
- Exported as FBX files with textures (PSD/PNG)
They are primarily tested in Unity, which is our main development pipeline.
That said, many developers also use our assets in Unreal Engine, and in most cases, they work fine there as well, although we don’t officially test every asset in Unreal.
⚠️ Why Issues Can Happen in Other Engines
Even though FBX is widely supported, different engines handle things differently.
Some common issues:
- Animations not playing correctly
- Root motion behaving differently
- Rigs importing differently
- Materials needing manual setup
So it’s less about the asset being “wrong”, and more about how the engine interprets the data.
🧪 Other Pipelines (RealityKit, Godot, etc.)
Engines like:
- RealityKit (Apple)
- Godot
- Custom engines
can behave quite differently from Unity.
These setups may require:
- Extra adjustments
- Re-rigging or retargeting
- Custom animation setup
In some cases, it may not be straightforward to get the same results.
âś… How to Avoid Compatibility Issues
Before purchasing, we recommend:
- Check which engine the asset is tested in
- Review preview images and videos
- Try free assets if available
- Contact the creator if unsure
A quick check can save a lot of time later.
đź’ˇ Our Recommendation
- Using Unity → should work as intended
- Using Unreal → generally works fine, but may need minor setup
- Using other pipelines → best to check with us first
We’re always happy to help clarify before purchase.
