Great news! From today onward, you can start working on content for the Magic Leap One.
Augmented reality startup Magic Leap is opening its platform to outside developers! They just announced a preview of its software development kit and “creator portal,” which will offer resources for people who want to build for its yet-unreleased Magic Leap One headset. You can now download a preview build of the Unreal or Unity engines. Isn't it awesome?
INTRODUCING Lumin SDK
Compatible with best-in-class engines and available C APIs. Get started with Simulator and tools for faster iteration like Magic Leap Remote.
The creator portal has a set of tutorials, a community for tech support, and a “Magic Leap Simulator” that will help people preview apps before they get a headset. The Magic Leap One was announced late 2017 and it’s supposed to be released this year, but we still do not know the exact date or pricing yet. The portal says that a marketplace called “Magic Leap World” will launch soon. Developers will be able to publish and price their experiences. World will also allow developers to manage their development teams by distributing access to tools for creations.
We are glad that Magic leap is finally showing us some stuff! It said an SDK was releasing soon all the way back in 2015. Magic Leap One is expected to launch later this year as a Creator Edition, let's hope it will be on time. Looking forward to it!
